People’s Deputy Alexey Goncharenko announced this today, May 8, in his Telegram channel.
I am a co-sponsor of this bill. And I have long defended the position that those imprisoned for simple offenses should receive the right to defend their homeland and register the corresponding bill. We must give convicts the opportunity to fight if they want,” the people’s deputy noted.
Goncharenko emphasized that according to this bill, those convicted of serious crimes – premeditated murder, rape, sexual violence, or crimes against the fundamentals of national security will not be mobilized.
People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted in his Telegram channel that the anti-corruption risks that the anti-corruption committee emphasized were partially removed from this bill for the second reading.
In particular, the right to mobilize from prison was removed for deputies and some top corrupt officials (with exceptions), as well as for those guilty of serious crimes (such as murder, rape), he noted.
The Verkhovna Rada voted for this bill in the first reading on April 10.
The mobilization of the accused suspended the consideration of 11 thousand criminal proceedings
