On Tuesday, March 19, the American novelist announced a modest $640 million donation to 361 non-profit organizations. On the website of his charity, Yield Giving, which lists his donations, he explains that these associations were chosen from 6,000 candidates and are all community organizations. With this donation, he intends to support them for their “exceptional work to increase the voices and opportunities of individuals and families with limited or modest means, as well as groups facing discrimination and other systemic barriers.”

This is not the first time that Mackenzie Scott stands out for his extraordinary charity. In October 2022, she offered $84.5 million (€86 million) to the Girl Scouts. A first in the history of the association, which had never seen a donation of such magnitude from a single person. According to the website Yield Giving, the 53-year-old American woman has donated around 17 billion dollars to date, distributed among more than 2,300 non-profit organizations. Despite his generosity, his wealth did not dry up. In the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mackenzie Scott ranks 40th in the list of the richest people in the world, with an estimated fortune of $36.5 billion.
