Find out which Disney princesses have as one of their attributes not belonging to the majority right-handed portion of the population!
Did you know that two Disney princesses represent a minority group in society that does not use its direct members to carry out tasks? That’s right, among the 13 holders of the Mickey Mouse House royalty title (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Moana and Raya), there is a duo that is left-handed!
Left-handers are those who use their left limbs more than their right limbs to carry out activities such as writing, holding cutlery or brushing their teeth, for example. Thus, these princesses represent around 10% of the world’s population who are not part of the majority dominant laterality group in society.
Who are they?
The princesses who developed attributes such as strength, precision, speed and coordination of movements with their left limbs are: Tiana, from “The Princess and the Frog”, a film that hit theaters in 2009; and the protagonist of the self-titled “Mulan”, released in 1998.
In the case of Tiana, the character gained this characteristic — which may have gone unnoticed among the most inattentive viewers — as it was inspired by the original voice actress, Anika Noni Rose. So much so, that in addition to being left-handed, Disney’s first black princess has a rounded nose and full lips like Rose.
As for Mulan, the Chinese warrior princess did not have the reason why she is left-handed revealed to fans of the animation. Furthermore, she is seen using the sword in her right hand, which may or may not mean that even though she is left-handed, she has skills with her non-dominant limb, which is not uncommon among non-right-handed people.

It is worth remembering that the animation that features Tiana is an adaptation of the children’s story ‘The Frog Princess’ (2002), by ED Baker. The plot is led by John Musker It is Ron Clementsa duo known for films such as “Aladdin” (1992) and “Moana” (2016).

Soon a frog appears, announcing that he is a prince and asking Tiana to give him a kiss. Tiana accepts and turns into a frog!”
Mulan is inspired by an ancient Chinese poem entitled “The Ballad of Hua Mulan”, and to take shape on screen, it was directed by Tony Bancroft It is Barry Cook.
“Mulan discovers that her father, already elderly, is asked to enlist in the army to defend China from the terrible Hun invaders!
