Hollywood actor David Duchovny announced a film about the Ukrainian restaurant Veselka in New York. The trailer has been published on YouTube.
Veselka was founded by Ukrainians Vladimir and Olga Darmokhval in 1954. The couple immigrated to the United States in the late 1940s. David Duchovny himself grew up two blocks from Veselka, so he has seen the evolution of the establishment over the decades.
The Hollywood actor is of Ukrainian origin – his grandfather was from Berdichev, Zhytomyr region, but then moved to the USA.
The film will release on February 23, 2024.
