It’s time to discover some mysteries involving your favorite heroes. Come with us!
1. Batman and the utility belt
Origin: appeared in 1939, with the hero, in the comics.
What’s it made of: The contents of the belt always change, as Batman takes and puts objects depending on the case he is working on. Furthermore, he is protected by locked capsules — only Batman knows how to unlock them.
Powers: vary depending on the content. But, normally, it carries batrangs (bat-shaped throwing blades), bat-claw (used to shoot and pull criminals), gas mask and respirator (serves as protection against smoke and toxic products), bat-shaped trackers, smoke grenades and bat-mines (explosives).
2. Spider-Man and the Web-Slinger
Origin: were created by Peter Parker. After being bitten by a spider, the boy realized he could fight crime. But he didn’t have the ability to weave webs. That’s why he created launchers.
What they are made of: They are made up of small cartridges, which are placed on bracelets underneath Spidey’s uniform.
Powers: They have controllers, triggers, batteries and a fluid similar to a spider web. After producing the fluid (web), the Spider stores the material in cartridges, which are connected to the triggers. So, just press a button in the palm of your hand to activate the launchers — which also have a controller chip to define the shape of the web.
3. Wonder Woman and the lasso
Origin: The bracelets were created from the remains of Zeus’ shield. The lasso was made by Hephaestus, the Greek god of work, from the girdle of the goddess Aphrodite.
What they are made of: of indestructible material.
Powers: the bond has infinite elasticity, is very strong and controls people, obtaining confessions. The bracelets defend against attacks and deflect projectiles and energy blasts.
4. Green Arrow (DC) / Hawkeye (Marvel) and the bow and arrow
Origin: Green Arrow’s bow and arrow appeared with him, in issue 73 of More Fun Comics, in 1941. The same happened with Hawkeye: the accessories were already with him in his first appearance (issue 57 of Tales of Suspense, in 1964) .
What they are made of: Green Arrow’s arrows can be normal, explosive, electric and gas. The bow of both is composite — it has levers and cables. Gavião’s arsenal has electric, sonic, acid, smoke arrows and many others!
Powers: Green Arrow can shoot 29 arrows per minute — he prefers to just hurt the enemy. Hawkeye has incredible skill with a bow, being able to hit any target from a distance. He also turns many objects into weapons: plates, forks and even books.
5. Thor and Mjölnir
Origin: the hammer was created by Odin, father of the Norse gods, for his son Thor.
What’s it made of: made of uru (Asgardian metal that absorbs magic — also present in Captain America’s shield) and modeled after the heart of a star that was about to die.
Powers: Loyal to its owner, it returns to the care of whoever holds it after being thrown. It also creates portals between dimensions and absorbs any type of energy — in addition to releasing it back (in an expanded form). And there’s more: Mjölnir is surrounded by magic, like the Enchantment of the Worthy: only those who are worthy can lift it, which eliminates the chances of an enemy stealing the hammer.
6. Hawkgirl and the azackoc club
Origin: The metal club originates from the fictional alien planet Thanagar, in the Polaris galaxy, where Nth metal exists in abundance.
What it is made of: nth, an alien metal that nullifies the power of gravity (through contact with this material, the club becomes even stronger and more resistant).
Powers: it is essential for women who have already assumed the role of this heroine to be able to fly — in addition to the umpteenth item, present on her belt, Hawkgirl needs wings and a club to get off the ground.
7. Captain America and the Shield
Origin: was created by Doctor Myron McLain.
What’s it made of: vibranium, adamantium and uru.
Powers: Vibranium, a metal of alien origin found in Wakandra (Black Panther’s homeland), is at the center of the shield and absorbs almost any impact or form of energy. The adamantium, indestructible (and also present in the skeleton of the X-Men Wolverine), is on the edges. And uru, an Asgardian metal, absorbs magic.
8. Iron Man and the Power Armor
Origin: It was built by Tony Stark himself so that he could become Iron Man.
What it is made of: It is entirely motorized with different features, which change depending on technology.
Powers: the armor makes the mortal Tony Stark a true hero! It gives him: superhuman strength, varied weapons and even the ability to fly. It also has repulsor rays (fired from the gloves), a defensive energy shield and the Arc Reactor (installed in the hero’s chest, generating the energy that powers the main parts of the armor).
