The family acquired these works in 1824, but it is not revealed which of the relatives did them.
At the auction house of experts in the UK, Christie’s discovered two unknown portraits of the Dutch artist Rembrandt. This was reported by the Financial Times.
According to experts, the paintings found in the private art collection of a British family, depict an old man Jan Willems van der Pluim and his wife Jaapgen Karelsa.
Experts note that the couples depicted in the paintings are related to the artist’s family. The pictures themselves were painted at a time when Rembrandt was just starting to become famous. Both works are dated 1635.
The pictures will be auctioned on July 6 at Christie’s in London. The estimated value of the paintings reaches five to eight million pounds.

It was previously reported that in the United States, a painting was accidentally discovered in a barn under a layer of garbage, which turned out to be a masterpiece of the 17th century.
