Georgia has resumed direct flights from Russia after a nearly four-year ban. The first will take place this week. This was stated by the head of the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia Givi Davitashvili, Imedi TV channel reported on Monday, May 15.
According to him, five airlines have already applied for direct flights between Russia and Georgia. At the same time, he stressed that none of the companies under sanctions will operate flights. A list of criteria for obtaining permission to conduct flights between countries has been developed.
“As I said, the applications of five airlines have been received, of which the verification of one has been completed, this is the airline. Azimuthwhich will be able to operate flights from May 17. The specified permit was issued today by the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia, and flights will start on May 17,” said Davitashvili.
In turn, the Russian media reports that the airline Azimuth has opened the sale of tickets for flights from Moscow to Tbilisi. Their cost ranges from 17,148 rubles to 62,798 rubles.
