Statistics show that in 2022, imports of used cars from China will increase significantly in Russia – this will affect the state of the entire fleet of the aggressor country.
The lowest increase in the fleet of cars and motorcycles in the last five years was recorded last year in Russia. This is due to the shutdown of production against the backdrop of Western sanctions imposed due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is stated in the information and analytical review of the Scientific Center for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Russian propaganda news agency TASS reported on Monday, May 15.
“The lowest growth (by 0.5%) of the fleet of motor vehicles was recorded in five years. The slowdown in growth in 2022 is a consequence of the change in the geopolitical situation, due to which the automotive industry is facing a number of new challenges, ” Russian officials explained, indicating the imposition of sanctions and the exit of many car companies from the Russian market.
In addition, the share of obsolete models of vehicles with a long service life has increased in Russia.
“About 42.7% (21.6 million) cars, 55.4% (3.7 million) trucks, 39.1% (0.33 million) buses, 85.6% (2 million) motor vehicles and 71.9% of self -propelled vehicles and trailers for them have been in operation for more than 10 years.
In 2022, the import of used cars “imported from Eastern countries” increased significantly (by 82%), which could significantly affect the state of the motor vehicle fleet in 2023.
Recall that in December 2022 it became known that cars from only two countries are now represented in the Russian automotive market – China and the Russian Federation itself.
We add that the NAPC made the Chinese automobile manufacturer Great Wall Motor an international war sponsor for refusing to leave the Russian market and expansion plan.
