BTS member Jungkook shared message to sasaengs through Weverse; understand!
The youngest member of BTS, jungkookshared a message for obsessive fans on Thursday, 04. Through Weverse, the idol asked sasaengs (as Korean fans are called who severely invade the privacy of public figures) asking them not to send food to his house anymore.
The message, which was shared by the Soompi portal, has the following translation:
Do not send food delivery to my house
I won’t eat even if you tell me to
While I thank you for the thought, I eat well
So buy it for you
I ask you
If you send it again, I will look up the receipt order number and take action.
So please stop”
It is worth remembering that there are several situations involving sasaengs in the Korean media, ranging from discovering the idol’s personal information, such as the phone number, for example, to physical persecution, as happened with jacksonfrom GOT7, who ended up getting involved in a traffic accident in Japan while being chased by fans.
The practice is part of the new anti-stalking law that came into force in October last year in South Korea, to prevent the crime from evolving into more serious cases. Legislation which now recognizes that more than one target may be involved in the case, includes acts committed against family members, friends or neighbors of the victim in question.
In addition, according to information published by the Koreain portal, the law now considers the items on the list below to be acts of persecution:
- Approaching, chasing or blocking victims against their will;
- Waiting or observing victims inside or near their homes, places of work or studies;
- Sending unwanted messages, images or videos by letter, phone or social media;
- Causing anxiety or fear by destroying objects near the victim’s residence.
Before, the penalty was served by paying fines that did not exceed 100,000 won (about R$375 reais). However, with the new legislation, criminals can serve up to 3 years in prison and a fine of 30 million won (over R$ 112,000) if the crime occurred more than once, increasing to up to 5 years in prison and fine of 50 million won (more than R$ 185,000) if the situation involves any type of weapon.
