On the sidelines of the PABSEC summit, a member of the Russian delegation tried to snatch the Ukrainian flag from the hands of the People’s Deputy.
At a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Ankara on Thursday, May 4, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada tried to prevent the speech of Russian representatives, Anadolu wrote.
During the speech of the deputy of the State Duma from United Russia, Olga Timofeeva, the Ukrainian delegation spread flags behind her and started chanting anti-Russian slogans. At the same time, members of the Russian delegation tried to stop the actions of the Ukrainian side due to the ongoing conflict.
The head of the Turkish parliament, Mustafa Sentop, intervened and urged the meeting participants to calm down.
“The one who has been given the floor will speak here. I will not allow to disturb the peace and order of the event. If there is such an intention, let them leave the place,” he said.

However, later, on the sidelines of the event, a fight broke out with the participation of Ukrainian deputy Oleksandr Marikovsky over the Ukrainian flag. He announced this on his Facebook page.
The video shows how one of the representatives of the Russian delegation snatched the flag of Ukraine from his hands.
In the message, Marikovsky called the man who was offended by the Ukrainian flag a “Russian bastard”.
“Paws away from our flag, paws away from Ukraine, Russian foul!” he commented on the match video.
PABSEC is a community where parliamentarians from 12 countries of the Black Sea region are invited to work. For a long time, the Russian Federation was quite influential in this organization. However, in 2022, after the invasion of Ukraine, its representatives were expelled from the meeting with exclamations of “shame”. In 2023, the Russian Federation tried to return and continue its influence.
In April Alexander Marikovsky was elected Chairman of the PABSEC Committee on Economic, Trade and Financial Affairs.
Recall that in Prague, pro-Russian demonstrators tried to enter the National Museum and remove the Ukrainian flag. Because of this, the police detained 18 people.
