Check out some details that don’t make sense in Gryffindor, the Hogwarts house in which Harry Potter belongs
Although there are four houses at Hogwarts, Gryffindor has always had a great deal of prominence in the Harry Potter books and films, as it is the protagonist’s house. The Gryffindors, as the members of the house are called, are known for being courageous, brave and determined. However, there are some things in the history of this house that don’t make much sense. Check out some of these spots!
1. The Sword of Gryffindor
The Sword of Gryffindor first appeared in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”, when Harry needs something to fight and survive the Basilisk. The second time she appears is to be an object that will destroy the Horcruxes. However, there are not many details about her, both in the books and in the movies.
What you can see is that, in a way, it has a mind of its own. Although this type of object is common in the Wizarding World, it is said several times that care must be taken with these instruments, and that they should be used to a minimum. So why, in the end, is the sword seen as a hero’s tool? Did no one wonder if she would do any harm to Harry and other students?
2. The Common Room
Ever wonder why the Gryffindor common room is in a tower? In addition to not having an explanation for this choice, it doesn’t make much sense compared to the other houses.
The Slytherin common room is located in an underwater dungeon, which makes sense with the element of the house, which is water. This also happens with Ravenclaw, which has air as its symbol element, and has its common room in a tower. But, why didn’t Gryffindor have their common room in a flat place, close to the ground, which would be closer to their element, which is fire?
3. Unlucky
Right at the beginning of Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts, it is clear that the members of Gryffindor are often seen as unlucky. One of the reasons for this is that the house has lost the House Cup to Slytherin for six consecutive years – and in the Boy Who Lived’s first year at school, they were bottom.
It doesn’t make much sense that Gryffindors, who should be proud and have heroic attitudes, are seen by others as unlucky and even suffer some attacks, like when Harry is selected for the Triwizard Tournament and the other houses turn against Gryffindor.
4. Peter Pettigrew
Peter Pettigrew betrayed his friends to become one of Lord Voldemort’s servants. Furthermore, he played weak for a long time, even though he was a selfish and dangerous person, in order to achieve his goals. But at the same time, he became a submissive person in front of the Dark Lord.
How was someone with all these characteristics selected for Gryffindor, whose values are chivalry, courage, daring and bravery?
5. Golden Trio
Perhaps it wasn’t just Pettigrew that the Sorting Hat failed. Although we know that Harry asked the hat not to fall into Slytherin, the fact that the magical object put Hermione, Ron and even Neville in the lion’s house is a little strange.
This is because anyone who has read the books or seen the movies can clearly see that Hermione was supposed to be a Ravenclaw student, while Ron and Neville would be Hufflepuff members.
The three friends, who among fans of the saga are known as the Golden Trio, may be part of Gryffindor because it is the home of heroes and, because they are protagonists, they needed to be heroes. The same goes for Neville, who proves his worth throughout the entire franchise.
