On this day, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. Theodore Trichina (Nevodnik). He was born into a wealthy Constantinopolitan family. In his youth, he retired to a desert monastery in Thrace and became a monk.
The monk was stricter and faster, he wore only a coarse, prickly coat of hair, for which he was nicknamed trikhina, that is, Vlasyanichy. This name is also given to the monastery where he is located.
During his life, Theodore performed many miracles and healings. After his death, a healing myrrh came from his holy lips, curing many diseases and driving out evil spirits. The life of Theodore is unknown.
Traditions and rituals
On this day, it is customary for people to commemorate deceased relatives and turn to their ancestors. People went to the cemetery. In Feodorov’s day, deceased relatives were said to yearn for their earthly life, they wanted to see their relatives.
