So far, the live-action ‘Aristocats’ still does not have a premiere date
The new live-action remake of Disney’s classic animation “The Aristocats” has finally won its director. According to information released by Deadline, the person responsible for commanding the production will be the filmmaker and musician Ahmir ‘Questlove’ ThompsonOscar winner for Best Documentary for “Summer of Soul”.
Through Instagram, questloveconfirmed the information, where he shared the publication of the portal and, in the caption, said: “They chose me to chase the cat. Basically, I have 2 goals in life: 1. Not destroying my dreams and 2. Getting out of my own way”. This will be the director’s first work on a fiction project. Check the post!
The adaptation of the film released in 1970 was confirmed in January of this year, and promises to be made with real cats, however, according to the website, the aesthetics should be more similar to that of “Lady and the Tramp”, live-action that premiered on Disney+ in 2019.
“Aristocats” follows the story of a family of Parisian felines who discover that they will inherit a fortune from their owner. However, the evil butler abandons the cats in the countryside to become the sole beneficiary of the inheritance and so, they must team up with a soft-spoken cat to try to get back home before it’s too late.
In addition to relying on questlove in direction, the live-action has also confirmed Will Gluck (Pedro Coelho) and Keith Bunin (Dois Irmãos) as those responsible for the script. For now, the feature is still in its early stages of development, so there is still no information about the premiere, as well as whether the adaptation will be released in theaters or directly on the Disney streaming platform.
