Demi Lovato participated in several productions as an actress, but this is her first time as a director
The singer and actress Demi Lovato is making her directorial debut on the upcoming documentary ‘Child Star’. demiwho has previously worked in front of Disney’s cameras, now takes on another position within this universe.
As reflected by Variety (via Omelete), in a press release, it was disclosed that the documentary which demi is involved aims to “deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the most famous actors in the world, in this case, former child stars including Lovato”.
In the direction of the feature, in addition to the singer and actress, she is also co-directing Nicola Marsh, from ‘Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story’. Also, the project will be shown on Hulu, and has a premiere forecast for 2024.
Previously, Demi Lovato participated in several Disney programs as an actress, being the protagonist of productions such as “When the Bell Rings”, “Protection Program for Princesses”, “Camp Rock” and “Sunny Entre Estrelas”.
Still, on one occasion, the actress during an interview for the podcast “Call Her Daddy” commented that her gateway to Disney came after receiving a no from another program on the channel:
I auditioned for the Jonas Brothers series [JONAS] and I didn’t pass. I was devastated and heartbroken, but Disney said they had two other projects and they wanted to see me. I had just received the worst ‘no’ of my life, but I went anyway and got both roles [de Camp Rock e Sunny Entre Estrelas]”
