The great Bengal tiger from the animation is the princess’s main companion during the plot.
Released in 1992, “Aladdin” tells the story of a young commoner who, with the help of a 10,000-year-old Genie, does everything to win over the princess of Agrabah, Jasmine, where together they face the sorcerer Jafar, who tries to steal the throne of the kingdom and dream of becoming the new Sultan.
During the plot, something that also draws attention is the princess’s pet: a huge Bengal tiger that does not leave the owner’s side, being extremely protective, distrusting everyone who dares to approach Jasmine.
The imposing tiger is known as Rajah and, during the plot, is always helping the princess, regardless of what happens. He is the one who helps her leave the castle in search of new adventures, as well as the one responsible for consoling her when, upon returning home, she begins to imagine that she will never meet the boy she met in the castle again. market (Aladdin).
Despite being Jasmine’s main companion, Rajah ended up receiving less screen time in the franchise’s sequels. In “Aladdin — The Return of Jafar” (1994), for example, one of its standout scenes is when the tiger attacks Jafar’s parrot Iago, which ends up being saved by Aladdin. Despite the disagreement, the duo ends up becoming friends in the end.
In “Aladdin and the 40 Thieves” (1996), the feline also received even fewer scenes, but was present at the wedding between Jasmine and Aladdin. Meanwhile, in the live-action inspired by the 1992 animation that was released in 2019, Rajah was also present, however, with a lesser importance than that of the animated film.
