The company stressed that “never under any circumstances” its factories will not operate under working conditions.
The SCM company will rebuild the destroyed metallurgical plants of Mariupol after it was liberated from the Russian invaders. This is what the Director of Public Relations and Communications SCM Natalia Yemchenko said in an interview with El Espanol newspaper.
“Our factories in Mariupol will never work under occupation under any circumstances. We will return them only under the Ukrainian flag,” he stressed.
Yemchenko also said that from 2014 to 2022, the city will become a showcase for the Ukrainian Donbas.
“Mariupol has been rapidly modernized in all directions and has become very attractive for life. And we, as the owners of two metallurgical giants in the city, which in total employ about 40,000 people , invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the development of the city,” he said.
In addition, the SCM representative described how, before the war, the iron and steel works of Mariupol prepared their bomb shelters for the siege and created a sufficient supply of food, water, medicine and fuel there.
“We are proud that, through the decision of our investor Rinat Akhmetov, we made a significant contribution to this amazing resistance – we opened the storage facilities of our metallurgical plants with food, fuel , medicines, etc. to the defenders of Mariupol and the townspeople. This saved thousands of civilian lives and the lives of the defenders at the cost of the significant destruction of the once legendary Azovstal,” said Yemchenko .
It will be recalled that in early September it was reported that the SCM group signed a memorandum with the Mariupol City Council on the development of a plan for the revival of Mariupol.
In addition, in the middle of the summer, the SCM announced that they will demand compensation from Russia for the property destroyed as a result of the military aggression in all possible international and national opportunities.
