The El Musel terminal will help alleviate the energy crisis in Germany, which has arisen due to the cessation of Russian gas supplies through the Nord Stream.
In Spain, gas transmission system operator Enagas will restart the LNG terminal in January 2023 after a decade of inactivity. The gas will be supplied to Germany. Bloomberg reported this on Thursday, September 8.

The El Musel terminal is expected to help alleviate the energy crisis in Germany that has arisen due to the cessation of Russian gas supplies via Nord Stream.
According to the director of Spanish operator Enagas, Gonzalo Aizpiri, this will allow traders to import gas, store it in tanks and transport it by ship to German terminals.
“This will give European operators flexibility and storage capacity, mainly in Germany,” he said.
Spanish LNG terminals are also trying to expand gas exports to other parts of Europe, taking advantage of Enagas’ gas infrastructure.
The El Musel terminal is located near the port of Gijon in northern Spain and has two LNG storage facilities with a total volume of 300,000 cubic meters. The first El Musel tank will be built in January and the second in March.
On Thursday, it became known that Europe received the first floating LNG terminal. It arrived at the port of Eemshaven in the north of the Netherlands and this week it will receive the first batch of gas for processing.
At the same time, Germany is actively investing in LNG terminals. It has chartered five rigs and leased two more to private companies.
It will be remembered that from the beginning of 2022, the EU has received more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas in the form of LNG from the United States, which is almost twice as much as the total of the previous year.
