The current situation does not correspond to the current contractual obligations on the part of Siemens, according to Russia.
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has refused to use the Siemens turbine, which was installed in Canada for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline. This was reported by the press service of the Russian concern on Wednesday, August 3.
“The sanctions regimes of Canada, the EU, the UK and the inconsistency of the current situation with the current contractual obligations on the part of Siemens make the delivery of the 073 engine to Portovaya CS impossible,” Gazprom said in a statement.
Russia says the route for transporting the turbine for the NSP-1 from Canada has been changed, and this asset is at risk of new sanctions.
This happened due to the fact that the engine was taken from Canada not directly in Russia, but in Germany (which was not approved by Gazprom), and now, to accept the repaired engine, the company needs to receive guarantees that the sanctions will not be applied not only from Canada, but also from the EU , and Great Britain, – writes Interfax.
Earlier on Wednesday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz personally inspected the turbine for NSP-1. He assured that the unit is ready for use, and all that is needed is a request from Russia.
As you know, Gazprom reduced gas supplies through Nord Stream 1 to 20% of capacity – 33 million cubic meters per day. At the same time, the gas pipeline is capable of transporting up to 167 million cubic meters. m of gas.
