Sony completely outsource production. Who exactly became a new production partner is still unknown.
Sony can no longer create Xperia line smartphones. According to Gsmarena, the Sony and China plants in Thailand and China have lost the section of smartphones, indicating the cessation of their work in its own capabilities.
At the same time, the Xperia brand itself is not missing – the new flagship smartphone Xperia 1 VII has been made by an external manufacturer. This means that Sony has completely switched to outsource production, though earlier the company applied such skills only to mid -Budget models. Now contractors have been moved by the release of leading devices. Such a step will help reduce the cost of smartphones, which is logical to modern market conditions.
However, so far the labor approach changes do not affect prices. Thus, the Xperia 1 VII is estimated at £ 1399 (€ 1659), which indicates Sony’s intolerance to this day to reduce its flagship devices.
Experts note that the refusal of their own production will allow Sony to focus on development, design and engineering solutions, and not logistics and assembly. But in conditions of strict competition in the smartphone market, this may not be enough for a significant increase in sales.
Who exactly became a new production partner is still unknown. Sony has not officially commented on these changes, however, removing the section with smartphones from the company’s labor sites can symbolize the completion of the entire period of its own Xperia manufacture.
This step also corresponds to a broader global trend: companies like Apple, Google and others have long relied on the outsource. However, for Sony, who always relies on a premium image, the transfer of production to third -party companies can be a point in the brand development.
