The EU has taken lessons from the great hope of a supplier, European Commission’s official representative Anna-Kais Itkonen emphasized.
The European Union is ready to discuss the increase in supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States to replace Russia’s energy sources. This was said by official European Commission representative Anna-Kaisa Itkonen at a briefing in Brussels on Tuesday, April 8.
“Half of our LNG has been given from the United States, and we are willing to continue working with President Trump’s administration. We are ready to organize and strive to replace Russian energy sources,” Itkonen said, adding that the EU is also open to working with other international partners.
Itcanen noted that it is important for the European Union to vary to change energy sources.
“We learned the lessons from the great hope of a supplier,” he emphasized.
Answering Trump’s request to buy $ 350 billion energy sources in the United States to resolve trade imbalance and cancel duties, Itkonen said the European Commission is not engaged in the purchase of energy sources, as it is not its ability. He explained that energy contracts depend on demand and price. He also added that the EU would not be involved in environmental standards in commercial negotiations.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union had decided until 2027 to completely abandon Russia’s gas. Starting this year, the delivery will begin from a promise of Black Sea Field in Romania, the operator of which the first contract in Germany has ended.
