Prosecutors sent to court an indictment against four officials of a mining and processing plant in the Poltava region. They are suspected of illegal mining worth more than 157 billion Hryvnia and their legalization. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Wednesday, January 15.
The chairman of the board, who entered into a criminal conspiracy with other unknown officials of the mining and processing plant, established a scheme for illegal mining of mineral resources for the purpose of enrichment.
The business, which has a license to mine only iron ore, illegally processes and sells other types of minerals obtained in the production process. These stones must be stored in specially designated storage facilities, and special permission must be obtained for their processing.
From 2015 to 2021, more than 20 million cubic meters of minerals were extracted, which is about 164 thousand wagons.

At the same time, the chairman of the board of the plant, together with his deputy and two heads of departments, organized the legalization of illegally extracted minerals.
Officials legalized illegal mining of more than 885 thousand tons of crushed stone products and waste stone for a total of 33.5 million UAH.
