Food products and non-alcoholic drinks increased in price in December – prices increased by 1.8%.
Consumer prices in Ukraine in December 2024 increased by 1.4% compared to November, and for the whole year inflation reached 12%. This was reported by the State Statistics Service.
Core inflation accelerated to 1.3% in December, reaching 10.7% for the year as a whole.
In the consumer market in December, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.8%. Prices for oil, sunflower oil, milk and dairy products, vegetables, processed grain products, bread, beef, fish, pasta and pork increased the most – from 1.0% to 5.2 %. At the same time, the price of eggs decreased by 1.5%.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased in price by 2.0%, with prices of tobacco products increasing by 2.7% and alcoholic beverages by 1.2%.
Prices for clothing and shoes fell by 3.9% in December, with shoes falling in price by 4.0% and clothing by 3.9%.
In the health care sector, there was an increase in prices by 1.6%, resulting in an increase in prices for pharmaceutical products by 1.8% and outpatient services by 1.6%.
In the transport sector, prices increased by 0.5%, mainly due to a 2.1% increase in the cost of road passenger transport.
We remind you that at the end of November, consumer prices in Ukraine increased by 1.9%. Annual inflation has accelerated and exceeded the psychological threshold of 10%.
Earlier in October, the NBU worsened the inflation forecast for 2024 and 2025 for the worse: by 1.2 and 0.3 percentage points (pp), respectively, to 9.7% and 6.9%. Only in 2026 can the inflation rate be brought to 5%.
