The purpose of introducing the new restrictions is to strengthen Japan’s response to Russia’s support for North Korea and avoid sanctions.
The Japanese government announced additional sanctions on Friday against dozens of individuals and entities over Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. This was reported by The Japan Times on Friday, January 10.
In total, the assets of 33 organizations and 12 individuals are subject to freezing under Japan’s Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Law. They also include a North Korean citizen.
In addition, 53 organizations from several countries, including Russia and China, are subject to new export bans and other restrictions.
From January 23, Japan will ban the export of 335 more products to Russia, including small motorcycles and components for special vehicles such as cranes.
The purpose of introducing new restrictions is to strengthen Japan’s reaction to supporting North Korea and Moscow’s use of third countries to avoid sanctions.
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimashi Hayashi said the additional measures are intended to contribute to international efforts for peace.
Earlier it was reported that Japan will allocate more than $3 billion as part of a loan from the G7 states to Ukraine in the amount of $50 billion, which will be repaid from the fixed assets of the Russian Central Bank.
