A lithium belt 2.8 thousand km long was discovered in western China. In addition, the amount of reserves discovered in the mineral lakes of the Tibetan Plateau has increased significantly, thanks to which China ranks third in the world in lithium reserves in deposits of this type.
Chinese scientists have also overcome significant technical difficulties in extracting lithium from the high-content mineral lepidolite. Previously, processing lepidolite was difficult and expensive.
Lithium is known as a critical material for a wide range of industries, including electric vehicles, energy storage, mobile communications, healthcare and nuclear power.
Let’s recall that a year ago it was reported that a vast lithium deposit had been discovered in China’s Sichuan province, with ore reserves reaching 1 million tons. It was noted then that it is the largest deposit of monomineral fractions of pegmatite-type lithium ore in Asia.
