In apartment buildings, gas will remain available for cooking for now. This is possible due to reserves in the gas pipeline system until the pressure in the network drops to a critical level.
Residents of unrecognized Transnistria were left without gas, heat and hot water. Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria company announced this on Wednesday, January 1.
“In connection with the cessation of gas supplies in Transnistria, Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria LLC informs about the gas shutdown. Objects of shutdown: boiler houses on the roof (provide heating); private houses in cities, village and town (if closure is possible), apartment buildings with autonomous heating, apartment buildings houses connected to the same gas pipeline with private households (if disconnected)”, – said the message.
In apartment buildings, gas will remain available for cooking for now. This will be possible due to the reserves in the gas pipeline system until the pressure in the network drops to a critical level.
Local residents are called to make sure to turn off the gas taps and not try to restore the gas supply themselves.
In turn, the Tirasteploenergo enterprise reported that in Transnistria, from 7:00 in the morning, due to the cessation of gas supplies, the supply of heat and hot water to residential buildings stopped. The exception is hospitals and social institutions.
We remind you that on January 1, Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian gas. The contract with Gazprom has expired.
As a result, gas supplies to Transnistria (left bank) via Moldova (right bank) were also stopped. The buyer of gas from Gazprom is its subsidiary Moldovagaz, which sends the entire volume of purchased fuel to Transnistria.
Right Bank Moldova has been buying gas for domestic needs from European suppliers for several years. Meanwhile, the right bank bought electricity from MoldDRES in Transnistria. The fuel for power generation at MoldDRES is Russian gas.
As you know, last Saturday Gazprom announced that from January 1 it will stop gas supplies to Moldova due to alleged non-fulfillment of payment obligations under the current contract. In response, Moldova threatened Gazprom with arbitration.
