Sanctions were introduced, in particular, against the Moscow Center for Geopolitical Expertise, founded by Alexander Dugin.
The US government announced sanctions against two organizations in Iran and Russia and an individual linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Russian GRU. The reason given is interference in the 2024 American elections. This was reported by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The Cognitive Design Production Center (CDPC), a subsidiary of the IRGC, was added to the sanctions list. The CDPC is planning an influence operation on American voters starting in 2023.
Sanctions were also imposed against the Moscow Center for Geopolitical Expertise, founded by Alexander Dugin. The center used artificial intelligence tools and communicated directly with the GRU unit, which dealt with sabotage, political interference operations and cyber attacks. Restrictions were also introduced against the director of this center, Valery Korovin.
“These actors have pursued the goal of inciting socio-political tension and influencing the US electorate in the 2024 elections,” the Treasury said.
As we wrote earlier, on December 27, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Ivanishvili.
