The Bulgarian Ministry of Energy told the media that in fact the parties “discussed only one ‘option’ for solving the problem.

Hungary and Bulgaria have found a legally and financially acceptable solution for the parties to extend the transit of Russian gas in the context of US sanctions imposed on Gazprombank. This is what Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said.

The Hungarian official boasted that Budapest pays for Russian gas through Gazprombank, and Bulgaria receives money for gas transit through Gazprombank, and that the parties have found a solution that is not subject to sanctions .

Russian gas enters Hungary through the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, and then passes through Bulgaria to Hungary. Hungary receives the bulk of its gas consumption on this route – more than 7 billion cubic meters this year.

Bloomberg, citing the Bulgarian Energy Ministry, reports that in fact the parties “discussed only one ‘option’ for solving the problem, which includes Hungary and allows Bulgaria to continue receiving the bills in transit after Russian gas arrived.”

Bulgaria has already warned that it could stop moving Russian gas to Central Europe if Gazprom cannot find a payment solution.

Let’s remember that this is not the only “success” that Peter Szijjarto is proud of. In particular, in October of this year, he said that Gazprom has exported 5.7 billion cubic meters of gas to Hungary since the beginning of this year, which has already exceeded the amount imported last year. Besides, according to him, Hungary plans to import a total of 6.7 billion cubic meters this year. Russian gas meter.
