JSC Defense industry of Ukraine in November it launched the assembly of BREN 2 rifles under license. It was announced on Friday, December 13 Ukroboronpromadding that this is “a practical continuation of cooperation with Česká zbrojovka – a subsidiary of Colt CZ.”
The agreement with Česká zbrojovka, which provides for the localization of the assembly and then the complete production of NATO-standard assault rifles in Ukraine, was completed on July 16 of this year.
General manager Ukroboronprom Oleg Gulyak called it “a step towards the integration of our defense-industrial complex into the industrial chains of NATO countries.”
In February 2024, the state held Defense industry of Ukraine (UOP) and Česká zbrojovka as signed an agreement of intent to transfer licenses for the production of semi-automatic assault rifles CZ BREN 2 in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian army already uses the CZ BREN 2, as well as rifles in service with the armies of the Czech Republic, Portugal, the task force of the French national gendarmerie, the Polish border service, and the Romanian gendarmerie.
The project for the transfer of technology for the production of CZ BREN 2 assault rifles was first presented at the First International Forum of Defense Industries (DFNC1) in Kyiv at the end of September 2023.
It was then reported that Česká zbrojovka assault rifles will be manufactured in Ukraine under the Sich brand.
Please note that the companies included in the JSC Defense industry of Ukraine (Ukroboronprom), entered into five partnership agreements during the international exhibition of the defense industry Eurosatory in Paris.
