The flow of users to Bluesky indicates that the application has presented itself as an alternative to social networks X and Threads.
In the midst of the US presidential election, the social network Bluesky, the main competitor of X (Twitter), attracted more than 1.25 million new users. CNBC reported this.
Bluesky’s total user base is 15.2 million, which is a fraction of the number of users on rival platforms X (318 million users visited in October) and Threads (about 275 million monthly users).
It was noted that the “influx” of users on Bluesky indicates that the application has presented itself as an alternative to social networks X, owned by Elon Musk, as well as Threads from Mark’s company Meta Zuckerberg.
Some users with new Bluesky accounts reported that they switched to the platform through Musk and his support for newly elected US President Donald Trump.
The majority of new users on Bluesky are from the USA, Canada and the UK.
“We welcome everyone looking for a better social media experience,” said Bluesky CEO Jay Graber.
Created in 2019 as a project within Twitter, Bluesky does not serve ads on the platform and its business model has not yet been developed. In 2021, Bluesky became a separate company.
We remind you that many Americans are thinking about moving abroad after Trump’s victory in the presidential election.
