Workers at one of the Kuzbass mines have not received wages for four months and are now demanding back payments.
Miners from Inskoy mine in Kemerovo (Kuzbass) region go on hunger strike over four-month salary arrears, reports Wednesday 42.
The Russians set up two tents on the territory of the mine’s administrative and welfare complex and made a statement demanding immediate payment, signed by 12 people.
The owner of the business, Denis Nemykin, said that the total debts of the mine, including wages and tax payments, amounted to about 1.2 billion rubles.
The businessman promised the miners to pay part of their salary for the working week and asked them to take part of the 300 thousand tons of coal left in the longwall. Employees refused to continue working, citing dilapidated equipment.
According to him, the mine must produce more than 92 thousand tons per month to operate without losses. In January 2024, the company produced more than 90 thousand tons.
