Ukraine received a loan of nearly $300 million (CAD 400 million) from Canada on preferential terms. Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal announced this on Telegram on Thursday, October 17.
According to him, the funds have already been transferred to the state budget of Ukraine.
“I thank Canada for its continued solidarity. Since the beginning of the massive war, we have received $5.4 billion in direct budget support from Canadian partners. This is an important contribution to our stability,” Shmygal wrote.
He said that these funds will finance the most important budget expenses.
A week ago it became known that Ukraine signed a fourth additional agreement with the Canadian government on a loan of 400 million Canadian dollars. The money is given for a period of 10 years, the interest rate is 1.5% per year. The grace period is 4.5 years from the date of receipt of funds.
And in September, Canada began training the Ukrainians on the F-16. Pilots will undergo training according to a standard program, which lasts 6 months and includes 50 real flights. Canada has allocated approximately $300 million to finance this program.
