The increase in food prices in Russia accelerated significantly in August 2024. The Moscow Times reports this in connection with Rosstat data.
At the end of July, the annual increase in prices for bread and milk was a record since January and February 2023 – 11.2% and 10.7%, respectively. Since the beginning of August, their value has increased by another 1.2% and 1.3%.
In the past week (August 20-26), prices for butter and sunflower oil, milk, sausage, pork, and brown bread increased by 0.5-1%.

“We do not see any visible signs of slowing inflation, and therefore we do not rule out the possibility of a further rate hike at the Central Bank meeting on September 13,” analysts noted.
As we have already written, due to the increase in military spending, the Russian economy entered an overheating phase. The Russian Federation lacks qualified workers, the ruble is weakening, and the state’s economic sector is becoming less efficient and corrupt.
