F-16 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were used to repel the Russian missile attack and demonstrated their high effectiveness during the air battle – four enemy cruise missiles were shot down by onboard weapons.
However, one of the aircraft was lost. This was reported today, August 29, by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the event, the connection with one of the aircraft was lost. As it turned out later, the plane crashed, the pilot died. A special commission of the Ministry of Defense, which is working in the area of the plane crash, was assigned to determine the causes of the accident, – the General Staff reported.
Let us recall that today it became known that during the repelling of a massive Russian missile attack on August 26, Ukrainian military pilot Alexey Mes, who was one of the first Ukrainian pilots to undergo F-16 training in the United States, was killed.
