On August 16, the National Bank of Ukraine set the official dollar to hryvnia exchange rate at 41.13 UAH/dollar compared to 41.32 UAH/dollar. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Thursday, August 15.
Thus, the National Bank strengthened the national currency against the dollar by 19 kopecks.
The hryvnia also strengthened against the euro. The official NBU exchange rate for the euro is set at 45.30 UAH/euro compared to 45.55 UAH/euro, that is, the hryvnia increased in price by 25 kopecks.

From the beginning of 2024, the dollar increased in price by 8.3%, or by UAH 3.13, and because the National Bank switched to a managed flexibility mode – by 12.5%, or by UAH 4.57 .
In July, the official exchange rate of the Hryvnia decreased by 1.4% or 57 kopecks, while in June its decline slowed to 3 kopecks. after weakening in May by 90 kopecks.
We remind you that in July, Ukrainians bought a record amount of cash currency for 12 years – $2.775 billion. Net purchases were $1.117 billion.
It was also reported that over the past week the structural deficit of foreign currency decreased in the interbank market – the NBU sold $784.63 million. This is 17.4% lower than last week.
