Rising prices and inflation, which reached 8.78% in May ERIforced a total of 1,160,705 Peruvians to cut their food rations because their income is not enough to cover the basic family basket.
The figure was identified by CPI study which examined the actions people take to cope with rising prices.

Out of a total of 3,315,312 women, the rest are men. From them, 1,910,393 people were forced to look for a second job to earn more incomebecause their regular salary is not enough to buy basic food.

Of the total number of men surveyed, 1,133,679 said they now choose cheaper items when they shop; while 2,177,259 women only buy main products682,564 women go to wholesale markets to buy in bulk and save a few salts, while 356,109 buy less chicken or meat.
