The private mining and metallurgical university Metinvest Polytechnic has announced grant programs for research, as well as an international internship program for its students in Bulgaria. This was stated by the rector of the university, Alexander Povazhny, according to the Metinvest press service.
According to the head of the university, a grant program will start in the fall, where individual students or groups will be given funds to conduct scientific research.
“Specific areas of research will be determined by the grant providers. Recently we changed the university management system and introduced academic councils, which include university representatives and hearings within the framework of academic councils, where the priority areas for the grants will be determined, that is, the customer – business – will be involved in making these decisions,” he said.
In addition, according to Povazhny, Metinvest Polytechnic will attract Ukrainians who leave the country to study, and will give Ukrainian students the opportunity for international internships.
“We recently signed a memorandum with a Bulgarian university and Metinvest’s Promet Steel enterprise located in Bulgaria on cooperation in training relevant specialists We also launched a pilot project for international internships for our student,” he said.
It was previously reported that the non-state mining and metallurgical university Metinvest Polytechnic graduated the first specialists in engineering and technical specialties in 2024. 143 masters received diplomas.
The establishment of Metinvest Polytechnic was reported in 2020, and a week before the start of the war, in February 2022, the construction of university buildings in Mariupol was announced. Due to the invasion of the Nazis, the plans were adjusted, and the university was opened in Zaporozhye. The first intake of students was held in the same year 2022.
