In Ukraine, it is necessary to build such an energy infrastructure that is inaccessible to the enemy, the company said.
Ukraine is making changes to the construction of the Kaniv pumped storage power station (PSPP). They plan to move it underground. The General Director of Ukrhydroenergo Igor Sirota said this, LIGA.net reports on Wednesday, July 31.

“We are making changes to the construction project of the Kanevskaya pumped storage power plant. It must be inaccessible to the enemy. Therefore, there are plans to build it underground,” he said.
According to the head of Ukrhydroenergo, the biggest challenge for energy workers today is to recover as soon as possible, protect facilities and think about the future.
“We must build such an infrastructure that it is sustainable,” summed up Sirota.
Kanevskaya PSPP with a capacity of 3600 MW began to be built in 1986, but in 1991 work stopped. The updated project, adapted to the current state of Ukraine’s energy system, involves the construction of a pumped storage power plant with a capacity of up to 1000 MW.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Ukraine planned to destroy the dams of the Kyiv hydroelectric station and the Kanev reservoir and blamed the Russian Federation for it.
Meanwhile, Ukrhydroenergo assessed the scenario of the destruction of the Kyiv hydroelectric power station by the Russians.
