Changing permanent representatives is an established practice at the IMF to ensure rotation of its staff, the fund said.
The International Monetary Fund has appointed Italian Priscilla Toffano as its permanent representative to Ukraine. The IMF office in our country reported this on Friday, July 19.
“From August 1 of this year, he will replace Vahram Stepanyan in this post, who, after three years in this post, returned to the IMF central office,” the statement said.
The fund noted that rotating permanent representatives is an established practice at the IMF to ensure rotation of its staff.
According to LinkedIn, Priscilla Tofano worked at the IMF as an economist from September 2013 to May 2023, after which she was promoted to senior economist. He was also a PhD Intern in 2011-2012 at the European Central Bank and the Bank of England, and a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2017-2019.
We remind you that this week an IMF mission arrived in Kyiv for negotiations. The financial plans of the Ukrainian authorities for the second half of this year will be discussed.
As you know, at the beginning of July, the state budget of Ukraine received another tranche of a loan from the IMF for $2.2 billion. At the same time, to receive the next loan, the fund set two additional requirements for Ukraine.
It was also reported that after receiving the tranche, Ukraine took second place in the world in terms of debt to the IMF.
