The rate of closure of individual entrepreneurs and companies is growing, but there are significantly more new companies and individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine than those that have ceased operations.
In the first half of 2024, about 92 thousand individual entrepreneurs were closed in Ukraine, which is 54% more than in the same period in 2023. YouControl.Market reports this.
It was also reported that the rate of company closures increased by 15% – in the first half of 2024, more than one and a half thousand businesses ceased operations.
According to YouControl.Market, the largest number of traders closed in May and January – more than 16 thousand per month. The leader in the number of closed individual entrepreneurs remains Kyiv, more than 12 thousand, the next ranking lines are occupied by Kharkov – 5.3 thousand, Odessa – 3.8 thousand, Dnipro – 3.3 thousand, and Lviv – 2.8 thousand.
Among the communities, the leaders with the largest number of closed individual entrepreneurs are: Krivorozhskaya (Dnepropetrovsk region) – 1.4 thousand, Kremenchugskaya (Poltava region) – 780 and Belotserkovskaya (Kiev region) – almost 600.
Men closed 4% more private entrepreneurs than women: more than 44,000 (48%) were closed by women, and 47.7 thousand (52%) by men.
The largest number of individual entrepreneurs closed in retail trade – more than 29 thousand (increase in closings compared to 2023 is 44.8%), information technology – almost 16 thousand (65.9%) and other services – 9.7 thousand (60.8 %).
Businesses are also often closed in Kyiv – more than 200, as well as in Dnepropetrovsk region – 187, Lviv region – 127 and Zaporozhye region – 96.
Among the communities, more companies were closed in Krivorozhskaya (Dnepropetrovsk region) – 42, Kamenskaya (Dnepropetrovsk region) – 18 and Brovaryskaya (Kiev region) – 15.
Businesses closed most often in wholesale trade – 194 companies, in the real estate sector – 148 and in construction – 95.
It was also reported that in the first half of 2024, more than 13 thousand new companies and almost 148.5 thousand individual entrepreneurs were registered in Ukraine.

We remind you that in the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainians opened more than 74 thousand new individual entrepreneurs, which is 33.6% more than in the same period last year.
As reported, the number of newly created businesses broke pre-war records last year.
