The Ukrainian side addressed the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure about the border situation.
Ukraine has informed the European Commission that Poland has suspended the passage of Ukrainian trucks without permits for international cargo transportation. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Sergei Derkach on Facebook on Monday, July 1.
The official noted that Ukrainian carriers do not require any permits for bilateral transportation. The cargo transport liberalization agreement between Ukraine and the EU began on June 20, but there is a transition period until July 10, allowing carriers to adapt to the new rules.
“The Polish side knows this, mainly the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure Through official channels, the Polish side, like all other EU member states, was notified about the renewal of the agreement between of Ukraine and the European Union is just a matter of internal communication on the Polish side.” , – said Derkach.
The deputy minister said that the Ukrainian side contacted the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure about the situation and the Polish colleagues assured that they are trying to solve the problem with the Polish customs service.
“We also informed the European Commission about the suspension of the passage of trucks. The EC has already intervened in the situation on its part and is also trying to influence the solution of the problem,” said Derkach.
We remind you that from July 1, Poland stopped the entry and exit of Ukrainian trucks without permits for international cargo transportation – a permit or an ECMT carnet.
As you know, on June 20, the EU extended the visa-free transport regime in Ukraine for another year with the possibility of its automatic extension until the end of 2025, but the agreement has been updated.
