Over the month, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.9%. Fruit prices increased the most – 10.4%.
In May, consumer prices in Ukraine rose to 0.6% from 0.2% in April, 0.5% in March, 0.3% in February and 0.4% in January. The State Statistics Service announced this on Monday, June 10.
According to the department, in May 2023, the price increase was 0.5%, so in annual terms, inflation in May of this year increased to 3.3% from 3.2% in April and March, as well as inflation of 4.3% in February. and 4.7 % In January.
In the consumer market in May, compared to April of this year, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.9%. Fruit prices increased the most (by 10.4%). Prices for vegetables, rice, fish and fish products, bread, dairy products, sugar, pasta, meat and meat products, and vegetable oil increased by 1.3-0.4%.
At the same time, eggs fell in price by 14.3%, and prices for oil, milk and dairy products fell by 1.7-0.4%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose 0.7% last month, linked to a 1.4% increase in the price of tobacco products. The price of clothing and footwear fell by 1.5%, including clothing – by 1.7%, shoes – by 1.4%.
The increase in prices in the health care sector by 0.9% was observed mainly due to the increase in prices for pharmaceutical products by 1.2%.
Transportation prices rose 0.9%, mainly due to a 1.1% increase in prices for gasoline and lubricating oil.
As you know, by the end of 2023, inflation in Ukraine has slowed down to 5.1%. This is the lowest level since 2020, when consumer price growth was 5%.
Let’s remember that at the end of April, the National Bank improved the inflation forecast for 2024, but worsened it for the following year.
