The new NBU restrictions on card transfers will not affect 98% of Ukrainians, emphasized the head of the financial institution, Andriy Pyshny.
The National Bank plans to limit the amount of transfers from one card to the amount of 100 thousand Hryvnias and the amount to 30 per month. But banks can increase this limit. This was said by the head of the NBU Andrey Pyshny in a telethon on Friday, May 24.

“According to the results of the analysis, the restrictions that the NBU sees as advisable to discuss include monthly restrictions of up to 30 transfers, this will not affect 98% of Ukrainians. The next restriction that we propose is to limit the total amount 100 thousand per month this limit will not affect 95% of Ukrainians,” said Pyshny.
According to the head of the NBU, if necessary, this limit can be increased.
“If it is possible to justify the bank due to the fact that there is a corresponding income, your profile as a client of the bank makes it possible and requires a greater number of transfers, the bank, as part of your relationship, may consider -consider your application and raise these limits,” Pyshny explained.
According to him, only initial transactions will be limited, and “everything that works for credit cards will not be subject to restrictions.” In addition, no transactions using IBAN will be limited in volume or value.
Pyshny explained the introduction of limits by the dangerous increase in the use of card accounts for transit transactions to legalize illegally obtained income.
“We have seen that Ukrainians give their cards for rent. You rent your card to criminals, drug dealers, those who run illegal casinos and the payments are made with your card, and you have nothing to do with it,” – added the leader. of the National Bank.
Earlier it was reported that the National Bank is preparing a draft decision to limit card transfers and introduce the upper limit for transferring money from card to card between individuals.
