The average dollar selling rate in Ukraine fell to UAH 40.00, and the euro rate rose to UAH 43.45.
The hryvnia exchange rate strengthened slightly against the dollar in the cash market. But the Ukrainian currency continues to fall against the euro, reports RBC-Ukraine, citing monitoring data on Thursday, May 16.
The average selling rate of the dollar in Ukraine decreased by 5 kopecks, to 40.00 Hryvnia, and the euro exchange rate increased by 15 kopecks, to 43.45 Hryvnia.
Today, exchange offices buy a dollar for an average of 39.50 UAH, and a euro for 42.75 UAH.
In the interbank market, the American currency is at the level of 39.64-39.66 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) – an increase of 3 kopecks compared to the previous day’s close.
The previous day, the NBU lowered the official exchange rate of the dollar against the hryvnia to the level of 39.5771 UAH (-0.1028 UAH). At the same time, the euro exchange rate reached a historical high of UAH 42.8501 (+0.0196 UAH).
We remind you that since the beginning of 2024, the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar has fallen by 5.8%. The Verkhovna Rada said that it corresponds to the planned indicators included in the state budget of Ukraine.
Earlier, the NBU explained the increase in the dollar exchange rate due to the restoration of international aid to Ukraine. This influenced the increase in budget expenditures.
