Near Nizhny Novgorod, the work of a major Russian oil refinery, which processes 5% of the country’s oil, was stopped.
Thanks to today’s drone attack, one of the most powerful oil refineries in Russia, LUKOIL-Nizhnegorodnefteorgsintez in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, was disabled. This was reported by Defense Express.
Russian Telegram channels wrote that the most important element of the plant was destroyed – one of the oil refining units, which is the key to all technological processes. The plant stopped working.

This refinery is one of the most powerful in Russia. By 2022, the enterprise will have processed 15 million tons of oil, accounting for about 5% of Russia’s total refining volume as a whole.
Earlier this year, another catalytic cracking unit failed due to compression equipment damage. In total, there are only two of them in the plant. It is impossible to fix the installation quickly, because it requires ordering Western parts, and Russia does not have this opportunity because of the sanctions.
The Russian propaganda news agency TASS reported that the operation of a technological unit at the plant was suspended “due to the incident.” But later the news agency wrote that the news about the closure of the refinery was published incorrectly. It has not yet been determined whether the plant is operational.
We remind you that a drone attacked an oil refinery in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. As a result of the impact, a fire broke out in the business territory. In addition, at night UAVs attacked an oil depot in Orel. After the explosion, a fire started there.
Also, drone attacks were reported in the Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh and Moscow regions of the Russian Federation.
