If there is a pause in the war, then this will be the next “Minsk”, which will allow Russia to prepare, the president said.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has shown in the port of Odessa the format of the dialogue that he wants to conduct in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with Le Monde and BFM TV, published on Tuesday, March 12.
“For me, the example that you yourself gave to Odessa indicates that he is not interested in any negotiations. And he has already shown the dialogue format in the port of Odessa. And secondly, we went through the Normandy format, which we have , we got through it,” he said.
Zelensky recalled that there were a large number of different meetings not only in the Normandy format, but also at a lower technical level in the Minsk process.
“And there are a large number of negotiations, there are about 200, there are more than a hundred for sure. And for him, for Putin, this is like oxygen, this pause. Understand, this pause is not peace negotiations , this is breathing for him, an additional chance, an additional time to restore the combat capability of our army, which is in a difficult situation today,” said Zelensky.
He noted that Putin would use the possible cessation of hostilities to mobilize training missions and increase production of ammunition and military equipment.
“North Korean bullets are coming at us. North Korean artillery is coming at us. North Korean missiles are coming at us. This does not mean that he is not alone, but has many partners. No, it means it’s that he has a shortage. A shortage and lack of appropriate ammunition,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that if there is a pause, then it will be the next “Minsk”, which will allow Russia to prepare.
“And this time he will come with a complete conquest of Ukraine, but will not make the mistakes he made from the very beginning,” Zelensky said.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin made a cynical statement that in 2014 the war in Ukraine was allegedly started by the United States, and not Russia, which annexed the Ukrainian Crimea and started a hybrid war in Donbass.
