In Ukraine, the number of millionaires increased during the first year of the war

Last year, the number of declarations worth more than 1 million Hryvnia increased by 16%. More than 12 thousand people submitted such declarations. This was announced by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danilo Getmantsev, on Telegram on Monday, February 19.

“In 2023, Ukrainians filed 266 thousand declarations on the status of property and income. The amount of declared income reached 147.92 billion hryvnias. A significant part of the declarations – 112,000 – were filed in connection on exercising the right to a tax discount . The amount of personal income tax, subject to return from the budget is 444.08 million hryvnias,” he wrote.

According to Getmantsev, the number of declarations worth more than 1 million Hryvnia increased by 16%. 12,374 people submitted such declarations. Thus, the number of millionaires increased by 2,863 people year on year.

“Tax obligations for tax to be paid to the budget of such millionaires are determined in the amount of 2,756.0 million hryvnias, for military duty – 526.5 million hryvnias,” added the people’s representative.

Based on the results of declaring the income of individuals in 2023, the following were paid: personal income tax – 4539.02 million Hryvnia, military tax – 946.09 million Hryvnia.

At the end of January, law enforcement officials informed the people’s representative of suspicion of false declaration of cryptocurrency worth about 25 million Hryvnias.
