In January 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia, according to preliminary data, transported 3.93 million tons of grain cargo. This is a record figure, said Valery Tkachev, deputy director of the company’s commercial department, at a meeting with grain market participants on Thursday, February 1. Interfax-Ukraine agency writes about it.
“In January 2024, we had a record transportation volume of 3.93 million tons of grain cargo. This is the best number in the last two years, since the full-scale invasion… We transported more in November 2021 and January 2022 ,” he said to Tkachev.
It was reported that 3.36 million tons of grain were transported for export in January: in the direction of sea ports – 2.7 million tons (80%), in the direction of crossing the western land – 661 thousand tons (20%).
In addition, 146.3 thousand tons of sunflower oil were transported for export during the month: 5.11 thousand tons – in the direction of the ports and 140.9 thousand tons (95%) – in the direction of the western land crossing.
In January, 237.6 thousand tons of food and cakes were transported: in the direction of the western land crossing – 209.2 thousand tons, in the direction of the ports – 28.4 thousand tons.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrzaliznytsia significantly increased the volume of cargo traffic. The first place in the cargo transport structure in 2023 is occupied by grain cargo.
