More than half of the imported semiconductors and integrated circuits received by Russia were produced in the USA and Europe.

Russia, despite sanctions imposed by Western countries, imported more than $1 billion worth of advanced American and European chips last year. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing classified data from the Russian customs service.

More than half of imported semiconductors and integrated circuits in the first nine months of 2023 were produced by American and European companies.

This includes:

  • Intel Corp;

  • Advanced Micro Devices;

  • Analog Devices Inc;

  • Infineon Technologies AG;

  • STMicroelectronics NV;

  • NXP Semiconductors NV

“There is no suggestion that the companies violated the sanctions law, and the data does not indicate who exported the technologies to Russia, where they were sent from or when the goods were produced,” the material said. .

The companies have told the media that they are fully compliant with the sanctions requirements, have stopped operations in Russia since the start of the great war, and have put processes and policies in place to monitor compliance with the sanctions.

They also added that they are working to combat the illegal movement of goods, including cooperation with the relevant authorities.

As we wrote before, Russia has largely managed to evade sanctions on technology exports, allowing Moscow to manufacture weapons and continue its war against Ukraine.

We remind you that the United States is increasing pressure on Turkey, redirecting sanctioned products to the Russian Federation and not interfering with financial flows to Hamas.
