The European Commission and Lithuania have allocated 15.5 million euros for the construction of new bomb shelters for schools in hot spots in Ukraine. This was reported by the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
It was mentioned that the European Commission is allocating 15 million euros. Lithuania provides an additional half a million euros and assumes responsibility for the implementation of the project.
The agreement was signed between the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine and the Lithuanian central project management agency CPVA.
According to the Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, this initiative emphasizes the EU’s determination to provide the safest educational environment for all children in Ukraine.
The EU program prefers regions suffering the most from military operations, such as the Chernihiv region; Sumy region; Nikolaevkskaya area; Zaporozhye region; Kharkov region; Odessa region.
At least five shelters are planned to be built in these front-line areas.
Remind us that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said that there are 60.5 thousand shelters in the fund of protective structures for the civil defense of Ukraine. The condition of school shelters is under special control. Currently, 88% of schools and 93% of students and teachers are provided with accommodation.
It was previously reported that 65 modular shelters will be installed in the Kharkov region.
