The exact amount of damage has not yet been calculated, but the company said it is worth billions of hryvnias.
The Ukrainian operator Kyivstar has filed a lawsuit for interference in the operation of the network due to a major failure as a result of a hacker attack. The company’s president, Alexander Komarov, announced this on Thursday, December 21, during a telethon.
He also noted that he has no information about customers who have filed lawsuits against the company in connection with the failure.
“There is no such claim. There is a claim from Kyivstar about interference in the operation of its network. There are eight criminal cases opened by the Security Service of Ukraine, but so far I have not seen any claims from clients,” said by Komarov.
He clarified that the company has not yet calculated the losses it incurred due to the failure, but, according to preliminary estimates, they amount to billions of hryvnias.
“We haven’t counted them yet and we can’t count them yet, because we are restoring the internal systems. But the scale is billions of hryvnias,” said the president of Kyivstar.
At the same time, he assured: the company has no plans to increase tariffs to cover losses.
We remind you that on December 12, the largest mobile operator in Ukraine, Kyivstar, suffered a cyber attack, the consequences of which lasted at least 48 hours, affecting the company’s mobile and data services. As a result of the cyber attack, more than half of the population of Ukraine was left without mobile and Internet communications. Kyivstar said that no leaks of clients’ personal data have been recorded.
